Video: Watch the near-disaster Hot Wheels world record practice jump you’ve never seen
If you were tuned in to the Indy 500 this year, you probably saw Tanner Foust, also known as the rather ambiguous Yellow Driver, set a new world record by flying 332 feet through the air from ramp-to-ramp in a custom-made pickup truck. This Hot Wheels-sponsored event was a pretty spectacular feat, and it went off without a hitch.
Well, at least the actual, official record-setting jump went off without a hitch.
As you’ll see in the video after the break, not all of Foust’s practice runs were nailed with such grace and perfection. As a matter of fact, at least one of them nearly sent both truck and driver end-over-end. We’d say equal parts of luck, driver skill and safety precautions ended up keeping Foust and the specially prepared truck from an impromptu test of the roll cage.
See for yourself in the video after the break.
Do NOT cut this guy off on the freeway!

This isn’t a racing wreck, but we thought it was funny enough to include here.
Watch an idiot destroy a new Silverado
What is the best way to cap off a Memorial Day celebration on the sand dunes of Michigan’s Silver Lake Park? If you said destroy your almost new to brand new Chevy Silverado in an amazing display of high flying hoonage, you are not alone. One Chevy Truck driver had the same thought last weekend and this video is the awesome result.

Video: Wince-inducing Chevy Silverado jump attempt
We’d bet that most Dukes of Hazzard fans figured out by age 10 that no 1969 Dodge Charger could take the abuse dished out by the Duke boys. And even if you thought the General Lee could really nail all those jumps, you probably didn’t feel so confident about “Crazy” Cooter Davenport’s ability to do the same in his 1968 Chevrolet pickup.
If only everyone had this much common sense. Beyond the jump is video proof that all would-be stunt drivers should befriend a mathematician and a physicist before attempting any stupid jumps. The beginning of the video looks promising enough, as the beat-up old Silverado approaches the dirt ramp, but it doesn’t take long for the epic fail to unfold. Good thing the driver was wearing a helmet, because this does not look like a minor collision.

VIDEO: Johnny Greaves jumps stadium truck over 300′ to set world record
Only ten days ago Jonny Greaves jumped his closed-course race truck from one dirt ramp to another — those ramps being separated by close to 300 feet. Greaves ended up going 301 feet, and set the record for the longest ever jump in a 2WD truck. It’s even more fun to watch than to read about, if only because his engine makes his Toyota sound like it’s powered by demons and banshees.
